GIVING BACK TO THE ‘ĀINA
HLRI: Hawaii Legacy Reforestation Initiative
We have partnered with the Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative to plant and maintain trees in the Hawaiian Legacy Forest. With each purchase from our signature Halepuna logo collection, we donate a portion of the proceeds toward supporting HLRI’s mission of restoring the biodiversity and integrity of Hawaii’s endemic forests.
From our “House of Welcoming Waters” to the uplands of our Hawaiian forests, we welcome you to experience and be rooted in our commitment for sustainability on our island.
“Halepuna Waikiki is honored to support HLRI’s reforestation mission,” said Jay Kitashima, Director of Operations. “Planting one tree can offset a weeklong vacation for a family of four. Our guests are welcome to plant their own tree in the Halepuna Forest to connect with our ‘aina (land).”
Legacy Trees can be given to honor an individual, commemorate an event, or memorialize a loved one. Every tree dedication is a living legacy, and a gift which will grow grander year after year. Please see the Halepuna Front Desk for more information on how to participate.

By showing their room key, guests can enjoy complimentary admission at two of Oahu’s greatest cultural venues, The Bishop Museum and Honolulu Museum of Art.
Bishop Museum
The Bishop Museum was built in 1889 by Charles Bishop as a tribute to his wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, who was a member of Hawaii’s royal family. The museum features the largest Asia/Pacific natural history collection in the world, along with displays of ancient Hawaiian crafts and exquisite royal artifacts.

Honolulu Museum of Art
Hawaii’s oldest and largest art museum was founded in 1927. It is recognized for its outstanding collection of Asian, European, Pacific, American and African art, showcased in some 30 galleries surrounding six garden courts.
