Led by martial arts master and artist Ray Carbullido, this workshop explores the essence of swordsmanship as a gateway of understanding and cultivating meaningful relationships. Through slow, intentional practice, participants examine not only their relationship with others, but also their relationship with objects, space, movement, and themselves.
Working with wooden swords, Ray guides guests to understand intention and alignment, and how these relate to sincerity and integrity. Through this practice, participants experience how to cultivate vitality and how meaningful relationships come to be. The sword, an implement we are not born with, creates an environment for understanding how to skillfully make contact with what is outside ourselves and the nature of those things. No experience is required, and one does not need to be interested in martial arts to benefit from this offering.
What to expect:
-
Slow, intentional movements with wooden swords
-
Standing and seated practices (no walking)
-
No physical contact between participants
-
Spacious, quiet environment for focused practice
Attire: Comfortable clothing you can move in. Barefoot or comfortable footwear welcome.
